UA hopes you've had a good new year and would like to welcome you into 2006! We would also like to apologise for the recent lack of activity, and promise things will look up in 2006!

Lightning strikes, caressing the bosom of the sky like a forked tongue striking the cold ground of the earth. Grumbling, spitting his petty curses, a hunched back being fumbles back, nearly loosing the connecting cables in his clenched fists, and proceeded to travel further. Trying to keep his lazy eye in focus, he wimpers at the next crack of thunder, fearful that he will be stricken next.

On the rooftops, several powerlines and pillars of metal, surging with electricity buzz with energy as a singular lightning conductor protrudes from the very edge of the tower. Sliding the cable in, he throws his weight down, forcing the metal to bend and ground under his strength as it is secured into place.

“Eeek!” he screamed as he dove out of the way. Lightning struck the rod, a surge of massive energy powering the machines that surrounded it as a construct lay stiff and unmoving for a moment on the table. The servant slowly crawled on his dirtied hands and lab attire to inspect it, and waited hopefully. Then, he heard the faint sounds of a clicking beat and threw the cover away to reveal… a book!

“It’s alive!”

“Damn it, put the actual body on the table!”

“(grumble grumble) Alright, alright.”

You must send us a note, repeat must or we will not put you on the member's list or show your work. This is very important! Hello devious members and welcome to the United Authors. After a long week, the club is finally starting to prosper, slowly, although surely it is. As you all know, I am *GreyWolf2090 with my co-club owner, the ~starlightofdawn. Together, we both wish to bring writers and poets together to help them prosper, and who knows, perhaps even make a career out of this someday (such as I hope to).

First off, let’s get to business. I would like for those of you who haven’t done so already to put the United Authors icon :icon unitedauthors: without the space into your journals. Secondly, searching endlessly and notes being sent out to individual deviants is quite a chore, so if anyone happens to run across a piece of writing that you believe holds promise, please look further into it, learn about it’s author, and send a greeting with a link back to this account so that they may join.

I’m sure you’re all thinking, we’re here, so now what do we do? That is answered easily enough. Once the club reaches at least twenty members in size, we’re going to pit you against each other (in a friendly Poety and Prose competition). This will be held once every month for willing authors that want to participate.

[Competition]
Each competition will vary each month, but each will consist of two categories, poetry and prose. The beginning competition will be short stories, no longer than 5-7 pages in length, and prose have no restrictions. Please, to cut down on the amount, once you submit a piece, say to poetry, you will be in that category of the competition for this month, not prose.

Once the club reaches thirty members in size, Staff Members will be appointed to help keep the club running smoothly.

Well, there is some spare time until the competition will officially begin, so get writing Authors.

About Us United Authors is a club set up by and in an effort to bring more support to developing authors. You can be any age, size, race, religion; your skill level is not an issue. You don't even have to have a gallery full of poetry or prose. All you need to do is have one thing - you just have to want to write. The administration team consists of , and who are all here for you guys, lucky lot!

To Join

To join, all you have to do is send ~unitedauthors a note with the heading Join - I repeat, it MUST be that heading. Otherwise, it might be overlooked. In the note, please write:

"I, (username), give ~unitedauthors permission to showcase my work in their club gallery."

Then just add ~unitedauthors to your watch list.

To Submit

To submit a work, please send a note to ~unitedauthors with a link to the work in your gallery, the title, keywords, if the deviation has mature content and catagory (e.g., "humour").

Your work can be fiction or non-fiction - it can even be poetry.
